Pressly moved to Little Rock from SC with her parents when she was in
high school.
Later it appears her parents moved back to SC. Maybe they still own a
home in Little
Rock or maybe the mother was staying with other relatives. Her
parents have a different
last name than Pressly, and it never says stepfather. I wonder if
Pressly was divorced
or separated or was Pressly her stage name.

She was discovered in her bed with defensive wounds to her left arm/
hand. If it was a burgler,
why would he bother someone who was in bed. Doesn't appear that she
got out of the bed.
I guess if the purse was in the bedroom he might attack her in that
room.

Aside from its sheer savagery, the crime was all the more startling
for its victim and the venue: Anne Pressly, a popular television
anchorwoman, bludgeoned almost beyond recognition in her home in the
tony Pulaski Heights neighborhood, only three blocks from the
prestigious Country Club of Little Rock.

snip

Ms. Pressly was discovered in her bed early Monday morning by her
mother, who became alarmed when her daughter failed to answer her
routine wake-up call and who then drove to the younger woman?s small
rented house. The mother, Patricia Cannady, who was visiting Little
Rock from her home in Pawley?s Island, S.C., found her daughter
bloodied and unconscious in bed and immediately summoned paramedics.

The police said Ms. Pressly?s wounds were the result of ?blunt force
trauma? but did not elaborate. Her purse was missing from her home,
and her two cocker spaniels were found outside the residence by a
neighbor.

======================

So she lived in a tony neighborhood and the parents in Pawley Island, S.C.
Sounds like there is quite a bit of money in the family. Especially
Pawley
Island. I wonder if any of the neighbors heard the dogs barking. Usually
cocker spaniels are quite vocal, and snappy. Wonder if the dogs knew the
person/burglar? So the burglar obviously let them outside. Those dogs
should have been raising hell, a pair of cockers. Usually aggressive
little
dogs IME. I wonder how the person was able to gain entry into the house
while Pressly was still in bed? Those dogs should have barked, a lot.
She
should ;have been aware someone was burgling the place, had enough time to
get out of bed.

From the Arkansas Democrat Gazette:

Before dawn Monday, Pressly's mother, Patricia Cannady of Pawleys
Island, S. C., who was in Little Rock, tried to wake Pressly up with a
phone call - a usual practice of hers, Little Rock police said.

When Cannady got no answer, she went to the small white house her
daughter rents at 4910 Club Road in the Heights neighborhood.

Police said Cannady found Pressly bleeding from the head and almost
unrecognizable from the beating, which left her with multiple broken
bones.

Cannady called 911 at 4: 33 a. m. Police, arriving at the scene, found
no immediate signs of forced entry and discovered that someone had let
Pressly's two cocker spaniels out of the house and taken her purse.
She lived alone.

Neighbors who spoke to a reporter said they neither heard nor saw
anything unusual Monday morning.
-----------------------------------------------

So why didn't the dogs bark? And why didn't Pressly wake up when entry was
made? Or at least be able to get out of bed prior to being assaulted? Was
someone already in the house, I wonder? And why didn't those damn dogs
bark. Cocker spaniels are usually so snappy.

td

Maybe someone was already in the house. My mom knew someone, the
woman
had been a former model (she wasn't my mom's age), and she was in her
bedroom
on the phone getting ready to take a shower. For some reason her cat
was acting
strange. The woman opened her closet door and a man was in it. She
ran as fast
as she could out of the house with the man behind her but outside he
kept running.
Apparently she either had some work done to her house or to her car
and a duplicate
key was made. Police believe he intended to rape her.
