Thats how a couple of people got rabies. A man just got scratched while
sleeping, and a girl bitten while in church.
There's only been one case "cured". I would have DH checked!

Saturday night my dh and I were watching the telly and I was napping on
the couch (watching thru my eyelids) and my dh was in the recliner
watching a movie. He kept seeing something out of the corner of his eye
off in the dim light of the kitchen sort of flitting around. He thought
it was a bird. He woke me up telling me there was a bird in the house. I
was tired and drug myself off the couch thinking, okay it's a bird, big
deal. Then I saw what I too thought was a bird perched on an old boot
birdhouse hanging in my sun porch. So I headed back to my perch on the
couch to let him handle it. On his further inspection, it was a freakin
bat! I had to drag myself off the couch again to go check. Dayam those
things are ugly.

Anyway, I sped back to the couch (covered from head to toe in a blanket)
while spouse used a broom on the bat and managed to get it outside.

Did you know if you can get them to drop to the floor you can catch them?
They can't fly from the floor, they have to be on something.

Sooo, tonight, my spouse is in bed and I'm here playing on the computer
and watching the telly when dh suddenly gets up out of a sound sleep and
is searching around the house. He swore something flew in bed with him
and bit him on the finger while he was sleeping. He swore whatever it
was flew out of the bedroom door into the hallway toward where I am
playing on the computer. He thought he was maybe dreaming. I thought he
was maybe dreaming too, thinking about the damned bat.

Sure enough it was a bat and we are both with brooms in hand trying to
swat it out of the air. That little bugger just swooped and flew in every
room of the house with us right behind it. We're lucky we didn't break
any knickknacks or lamps.

Anyway, we did catch it and have it in a container to take to wherever you
are supposed to have it tested for rabies.

So, okay, now I prolly won't sleep soundly tonight. The last couple
mornings I have woke up with some strange scratches on my fingers that got
a little swollen and a little bit infected, sort of like papercuts and
thought nothing of them. Now I'm wondering.
