The cat
froze and when the shaking stopped (lasted about 30 seconds) she dropped
the mouse she'd been playing with, ran to me and bit me! I think she
thought I caused it :-}
Ha ha. In my case it was the exact opposite. After the shaking
stopped, I looked around for kitty cat, figuring I would need to scoop
him up in my arms and calm him down.
Saw him sitting in a rickety chair. Calm as day. He hadn't batted an
eye during the quake. I think he sensed I was nervous and let me feed
off of his utter calm. One cool-headed cat.
That is very unusal, you literally have a very "cool cat"
We were on the edge of the Seattle 2002 (?) quake. From her
description of the effects, I would call it a low 4 intensity for most
of a minute. Till now, I never noticed that she never mentioned the
cats. She usually would have at least one of them with her in the
home office. I wonder if they were asleep in the bedroom, cowering
somewhere, or sleeping through it and wondering why she left the room
so abruptly?
(I was three blocks away in a building built on fill. But I felt MUCH
less quaking, an entire Richter magnitude lower. We got about 8
seconds of shaking, followed by a twitch another thirty seconds later.
I don't know why she would get so much more than we did.)
