One assumes that you are indignous. What tribe, may I ask?

Well I'm not indigenous, but I do believe my forefathers entered this
country legally, through Ellis Island. They also learned to speak the
language, paid taxes, and followed all the laws until they were granted
legal citizenship.

We harm our country when we restrict immigration. We also harm our
country when we fail to provide a path to citizenship for current
undocumented residents. Fear of "illegals", IMO, is actually
sublimated fear of change. Whites are destined to become a minority in
the US. Get used to it, enjoy the diversity, take advantage of the
brains, muscle and talent, and do try the restaurants.

When my ancestors came here, they weren't offered a german or french
translation of everything. There was no 'press one for english, two for
german'. They assimilated to the culture while keeping some of their own
traditions. An example, we have always celebrated St. Nicholas Eve, a
long-standing tradition in our family. We don't assume the rest of the
country SHOULD though. My great-grandparents spoke only german. Never did
learn the language, but they were elderly. My grandparents were fluent in
both english and german, writing and speaking. Although neither of them
ever were schooled past elementary. They purchased a home in the 1920's and
lived it until the day they died, sometime in the '70's. When I was a
little girl, I remember my grandma corresponding with her relatives in east
germany. In fact I still have some of the christmas postcards she received
from them. She explained to me about them being behind the Berlin wall.
I thought the cards were so pretty and asked grandma if I could have them.
I enjoy diversity. My daughters and I laugh about how so many of their
birthday party photo's from when they were little look like UNICEF pictures,
children of all shapes, sizes and colors. But I am not sympathetic with the
plight of illegals in this country. That's *my* opinion.
