There is an update by another writer. A second update, that I wrote,
will go up in the near future.
However, I am very interested in how people think I handled the
difficult issues of gender and race raised by the case – and how they
believe I might have done better.

As someone who does historical research/writing, I thought you did a
very good job of supplying the facts without being sensational. It's
well written and engaging. There is no way you will make everyone
happy when you're dealing with issues of race and gender, so all you
can do is stick to the facts as much as possible and let your reader
decide for himself- which you have done. HTH...
