Infected teeth = systemic infection = sepsis = multiple organ
failure =
death.

Good call. I hadn't even thought of that myself. But you are
right.
We had a high school girl here who had some dental work done, and
got
very ill shortly afterwards, dying withing just less than a week I
think. From an infection due to the dental work she'd had.

But since Kerstin's drs put out a press release asking for her
mother to
come forward to give more of a history - surely Kerstin's illness
has to
be something less straightforward?

Mine was just a guess - I was at the dentist once and read about a
guy who
died of a pericardial infection that came from gum disease and
decayed
teeth!

I too knew a guy that had that happen. He lived thru it. He had an
abscessed tooth that spread down into his jaw and neck, and the
infection
was in his blood stream and went to his heart. I don't remember the
full
medical details but IIRC his kidneys were also involved. It was touch
and
go for quite a while, he dang near died.

I hope they've got dentists working on Elisabeth and son Stefan's
teeth now
so this won't happen to them.

My cousin told me about a friend who also had this happen to him,
almost died from it. He was in the hospital, and doctors couldn't
figure out what was wrong with him and it
turned out the infection was coming from his teeth. He had to have
them
all pulled out. My cousin said he was afraid of dentists and hadn't
been to one
in years, even though he was quite wealthy. I asked my dentist if
this happened
very often and she said she had never had a patient seriously sick
from a
a pericardial infection.

After Patirck Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, I found
this on predisposing factors in wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancreatic_cancer

Gingivitis or periodontal disease.

My niece has a congenital heart defect which requires that she take 4
x normal antibiotics each time she visits the dentist in order to ward
off the possibility of sepsis.

I can't imagine what kind of physical shape Elisabeth and her children
are in having not received any medical care since imprisonment.

This horror story will never end.

I thought I read in one of the threads that along with completely gray hair,
Elisabeth has no teeth left. Poor nutrition, and I imagine lack of vitamin D
(and exposure to sun) together with no preventive dental care would mean
tooth loss. And the less teeth you have, the harder it is to get proper
nutrition.
