themselves, thinking there was going to be a head-on crash.

"When we left the hospital with the boys it was dark, and they were
fascinated by the vehicles' headlights. They were shouting and hiding
behind the seats. Everything was new and amazing. But the best bit was
when they saw the moon.

"They were open-mouthed with awe, nudging each other and pointing.
I've seen a lot, but nothing like this."

Lisa, Monika and Alexander were separated by Josef from their mother
at birth, possibly because they were "cry babies" and their sobs would
have been heard coming from the cellar.

So this simple reason might be why some kids were let out nd others not.
Makes me wonder, though, if sounds could be heard, why someone didn't

I think he had no choice. There was simply not enough room and air for
so many children in the cellar so he had to take the risk to adopt
some of them. He got away with it three times amazingly enough.
