You're barking up the wrong tree here mister. I've been a proponent of
national health insurance for at least 20 years, probably a hell of a lot
longer than that. I just can't remember right now.

And nobody is trying to say 20 percrnt of pregnat women get murdered. I
think what we women are so upset about is the rising number of women who
are murdered SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE PREGNANT.

But I'm not certain that's true. These women are in relationships with
abusers.

Some of them are, sure, but some of 'em end up dead out of nowhere. Like
Laci Peterson for example. Or any number of other pregnant women, the
couple right here in raleigh, Michelle what's her name, and the pregnant
paper carrier. Neither of them solved yet. And 'The Hackers' wife, Mark
Hacking. Some of them think everything is fine, and whammo, end up dead.

Perhaps they're less able to recover from abuse while pregnant.

Less able to take care of themselves. Believe me, eight or nine months
pregnant leaves you pretty unsteady on your feet, clumsy, unable at times to
get out of a chair, let alone get away from somebody assaulting you.

Perhaps there are more and more women getting killed by husbands and
boyfriends in general, and pregnant women just happen to be a slice of
that.

You know how upsetting the prior story was, about the baby in the toilet.
Many of these pregnant women getting killed have babies inside them that
would/could come out screaming and kicking, if they could. Those babies are
viable living infants.

And it's about time you start being honest about all this bullshit
comparing males and females. More males are killed because far more
males are involved in crime.

Possibly. But I'm not convinced. Why do more men die in car accidents,
for example?

Probably a combination of reasons, men drive more, farther distances,
faster, take more chances on the road. I've always been a more careful
driver than dh. I'm not into tailgating because somebody in front of me is
driving too slow, or trying to pass 'em up. I'd hazzard a guess that women
drive kids around more than men. We probably tend to be more careful
drivers when we have children in our cars.

It may be risk taking behavior in general, I suspect, and not
specific to crime.

Partly true, but far more males are committing the type of crimes that can
get them killed too. Take drug dealing, it's mostly the males who deal in
the money end of it. Like I said, robberies, burglaries, all types of
crime.

But a part of it is that violence towards men is more acceptable in
society in general than violence toward women. That's a fact, do you
deny it?

I don't know, you hang with a different crowd of people. I've been to many
bars in my day, but I've never been in a place where a real fight took
place. I've been in bars with pool halls, bars with bowling alleys, nice
bars, neighborhood bars, gone out for an evening of drinking type bars, or
bars one generally stops in for a drink or two after dinner or movies. I'm
not saying there might have been a confrontation or two, but never anything
more than that. You seem to hang in places where you or someone else is
getting punched out regularly. I've been to lots of concerts, fairs, out
door events, we always steer clear of violence. I've been to lots of major
league sports, everything from the old Milwaukee Bucks games to Lambeau
Field in Green Bay, never been involved with a fighting crowd. Down here,
been to State basketball/football games, no fights I've been near.

Perhaps males in general are out looking for more fights? I've never been
in a fight. You talk about all these women who are hitting you or slapping
you all the time. I don't have that sort of envirnment around me.

As an afterthought, did you happen to catch the movie on the Green River
Killer the other night?

No, was it good? Did they have the part where some cop saw his Corvette
and wrote down "Camaro"?

I thought it was good. I don't know about the Corvette though, I missed the
beginning of the first night though. I only caught about the last three
hours.

I also saw a very interesting program about those two guys who killed the
professor couple, the Dartmouth couple, Zantop. I can't recall which
channel it was on, probably that new channel, ID or something? Has all the
crime programs on it.
