Careful, as soon as you say the victim showed some bad judgment there
are a pile of dimwits who think that means you're excusing the
attack.  Somehow they don't understand when you say "If the victim
hadn't done this obviously foolish thing, it would have never
happened" it doesn't mean "therefore it's okay to rape/stab/kill/
spindle/mutiliate/whatever".

( Which reminds me,it's been a long time since I spindled anybody... )

Seriously. I have no trouble saying such a thing. I had a good friend
who did something along these same lines and wound up dead. While I
wouldn't say she asked to be killed, I would say that when you lie
down with dogs, you have to expect that when you wake up (if you wake
up) you'll have fleas.
