I am the same age as you are, Bo, give or take a few months. (I can't
remember your birthday, but mine's in May.) Everyone in my crowd was
passionately interested in politics. I wasn't as organized in my
interests as you, but I was a big John Anderson supporter in 1980 &
thought of myself as a Republican until Reagan got the nomination.
I've been Democrat ever since, at least when it comes to the national
level.

I've always been "politically vocal" from the first time I could
vote....when Utah was holding a "liquor by the drink" election.
I voted at my (LDS) next-door neighbor's home....and the
"judges" were looking at everyone's ballots and keeping
a lot. I turned them in.

I also voted for John Anderson, because the alternatives
made me ill. I knew it was only a protest vote, but I had
to vote.

But....if Obama doesn't get the nom, I'm not sure I can
vote for Hillary. Until this last week, I could....but I don't
like the exposed mismanagement in her campaign.
I couldn't vote for McCain, either. I hate the thought of
not voting.

If you can't manage a campaign, how can you manage
a country? Obama, in comparison, has run a brilliant
campaign and shows good management skills.

to get a law passed in Illinois to not allow sex shops near
schools...Obama voted 'present' on that one, and said it was because
he thought it would be too much work for law enforcement to enforce
it....such a saviour he will be....I am really missing out on how he
has such great management skills....seriously, you need to really take
a look at his Illinois record, and read up on what people active in
Illinois government and politics really think of him.....and hey,
Kris...I'm still waiting for you to tell me why you assume that I am
white, and a racist given that you do not know what my race is, and
that I have never said or written anything racist....while you're at
it, why don't you see if you can find a way ot defend Obama on his
stance on sex shops near schools...

Um, you need to look up the word "management".  Maybe you don't like his
voting record, his politics, okay.

That's different from what Kris was talking about.  Management is about
organization and financial management:  he's raised a lot of money, much of
it in smaller chunks from a wider base than his opponents.  He's showed a
great on-the-ground organization in most of the contested states.  He's done
particularly well in caucuses, which require a great deal of on the ground
organization - keeping track of lots of volunteers, keeping them motivated
and committed, picking the right places to have them call and walk door to
door.

Those are management skills.  Not choosing to vote on an adult book store.

And really, who the *** cares if they sell dildos within the vicinity of a
school?  What does that do with his ability to steer the economy away from
recession, restore America's reputation around the world, find a way out of
this quagmire of a war, put the smack down on Al Qaeda, reform social
security, reform immigration policy and enforcement?  America faces these
huge challenges, and you're worried about his stance on dildoes?  Tell me,
how many have died over sex toy sales?  How many have been thrown out of
work?

For ***'s sake.   I thought the Republicans who were in a lather over gay
marriage and Pedro wanting to pick lettuce for below minimum wage were stuck
on the most irrelevant issues, the silliest contrast to the serious
challenges America is facing.  But oh no, you've taken top honors:  you've
got your panties in a bunch about selling vibrators in the same neighborhood
where children live.  Oh, the horror!

Bo - there is a whole lot more to Obama's poor record than sex shops
near schools. He is in the back pocket of Commonwealth Edison and
takes quite a bit of money from their lobbyists. Yet, he continues to
rail on about needing to clean up Washington so that there are no so
many politicians taking money from Washington lobbyists....well, I
guess the keyword is Washington...apparently it is okay for him to
take money from Illinois lobbyists. He constantly minimizes his
connections to Rezko. The correct information is out there - and no,
it is not being written by the idiots who attack him because of his
race. It is being written about by reputable Illinois journalists,
but democrats within the state if Illinois who have worked with Obama
and know his true record. Go ahead and think he is a great manager if
you want, I know otherwise. He tells people what they want to hear,
and for whatever reason, the media outside of Illinois refuses to even
report the facts about him. The general public does not even want to
look up his record, don't want to listen to Illinois democrats,
Illinois journalists who know what he is really like. I really don't
understand people who follow him so blindly. All he has going for him
is that he is a good speaker - cal that great management skills if you
like, but it is anything but that. Look at what we got for president
the last time we failed to really look at a candidate's record. And
for the record, my real issue with Kris is that she called me a
racist, At the time I wrote that last post, I was still pretty pissed
off about that. Actually, I still am. I have never written anything
racist, yet she accused me of being a racist, I have outlined my
reasons for not liking him, ad those reasons never mention race, as it
is not an issue for me. In fact, I have often said that I would love
to see John Conyers run for president. She also assumed that I am
white - so no black person could dislike Obama? To me, anyone who
assumes that seems to be the one who is thinking so much about race,
and showing some judgement based on race. Accusing someone of racism
with no evidence at all is very unfair, and I was pretty shocked to be
the target of such an accusation. There can be no reason for it other
than intimidation - if you accuse any of Obama's detractors of being
racist, you discredit them, whether or not your accusations are based
on fact. I would have hoped that people could have a good and fair
discussion, but apparently some people are incapable of that when it
comes to Obama.

Honestly, it is frightening to me that so many Obama supporters fail
to look at his record, and worship him just because he repeats hope
and change ad nauseam. Look at his record in Illinois....he came into
Illinois government spouting the same ***, and thanks to him and his
buddy Blagoveich, we are in really poor financial shape. When serious
legislation comes up, he repeatedly votes "present." His answer for
that is that that is just how Illinois politics works - that they
often vote present, and people believe him. Illinois politics does
not work that way - we have yes and no votes just like anyone else.
Obama's votes are for sale - he votes present to keep himself in the
middle, and often, the highest bidder gets his vote. When legislation
was being considered that would benefit ComEd, Obama votes
present...then once they give him campaign contributions, suddenly his
vote changes to yes. He is as dirty as they come, and the fact that
he speaks well seems to be all that matters to anyone outside of
Illinois. The thing that irritates me more than his supporters
ignorance to his record, and unwillingness to even look it up, is that
they must accuse anyone who does not like him of being a racist. It
does not matter how many really valid reasons a person gives for not
liking him. All his supporters see is a racist. Hey, I am as ready
for an African-American president as anyone. That does not mean that
we just stick any African-American in there. This guy helped to make
a huge mess out of Illinois without concern for anything but
benefitting himself. He will do the same thing to the country. He is
the democrat version of George Bush.
