Two women used a snow shovel to fight two purse snatchers in Maryland
Heights.

This happened at the Schnucks at Dorsett Road and McKelvey.
The two women were on this Schnucks parking lot unloading groceries Sunday
night when the alleged thieves grabbed two purses from their cart.

One of the women then jumped into the bed of the suspect's truck and picked
up a shovel.

She then smacked one of the suspect's on the head.

With a gash on his head suspect John Murray staggered from the scene.

At the same time the other victim jumped in the cab of the truck attacked
the other suspect and then grabbed the keys from the vehicle so the suspects
couldn't get away.

A defeated Corey Brown followed his partner in crime and fled and left
they're truck behind. Captain Scott Will showed News 4 the snow shovel
that was bent after it was used to strike suspect Murray on the head more
than once.

Police tell News 4 that they still remain stunned about the heroics two tiny
women used to battle back.

Authorities say they do not want to see victims putting themselves into
danger like this case, but fortunately it worked out for the two women.

Police tracked the thieves to a Bridgeton Motel, and the one that was hit in
the head actually had to go to the hospital and get staples.

Both are jailed and charged with robbery.
