The entire nation is stunned by the mystery of a missing college student.
19-year-old Brianna Denison of Reno disappeared early Sunday morning,
after staying the night at a friend's home near UNR. Suspicious details
about her disappearance have sent family members on a nationwide hunt for
the missing woman.
She's been away at school, studying psychology at Santa Barbara City
College...but she came home this weekend to visit her old Reno High
School friends and her family members.
Her friends say Brianna and a group of other young women, attended a
large concert and party in downtown Reno...but when the night was over,
Brianna went missing.
Police are combing the neighborhood Brianna disappeared from. It's the
home of four sorority girls on Mackay Way, just blocks from UNR. One of
the students, "K.T." Hunter is a close friend of the missing girl. She
says Brianna went to sleep on a couch in the living room, but when she
woke up to check on her...
"She wasn't there and I noticed blood on the pillow so we called the
cops. From then, it's just been a nightmare," said Hunter.
KT says a stuffed bear was also missing, but Brianna's shoes, purse and
cell phone were still inside. When Brianna went to sleep, all she had on
was a tank top and a pair of sweats. The door to the home was unlocked,
but KT says her friend had no enemies.
"I have no thoughts of who could have done this, who could have just
walked into my house and taken my friend."
Police followed shallow leads, sending search and rescue volunteers to
check every corner of the open land near King's Row, for any sign of the
missing girl. While they turned up with nothing, Brianna's family members
aren't giving up. Her aunt, Rena Denison, says she's covering the city in
missing person posters, hoping someone will recognize her niece.
"What scares me is, like the dog not barking. Did he know that person
that came in? Did they sleep through a dog barking? Why did she not
scream?" said Denison.
Rena says police are investigating Brianna's most recent boyfriend, a
young college student who lives in Oregon. She says he and Brianna
exchanged a series of text messages the night she disappeared.
"Just awful. They were breaking up kind of stuff, saying awful things,
calling her all kinds of names. He's just young and jealous," said
Denison.
Brianna's aunt says the boyfriend was in Reno Friday night, but was
supposed to return to college the next day. She says police are also
looking closely at another ex-boyfriend who lives out of town, as well as
a 45-year-old man who gave the girls a ride home after the party. Police
have this surveillance video of the man's car leaving the parking lot of
"Sands."
"That's a good friend, Ian, who took us home so we wouldn't have to get a
cab or anything, but no, he's harmless," said Hunter.
Police are not naming any suspects at this point. While KT insisted the
man who drove them home would never hurt anyone, police say they are
interested in talking to the driver of that SUV.
Brianna's family is determined to find out where she is. They're offering
a $100,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to her
safe arrival at home.
Brianna's aunt Rena says police want an alibi from the boyfriend, just to
make sure he was where he says he was that night. Other than that, the
whole thing is very mysterious.
Brianna's friend, KT seems to think it may have been just a random person
who saw her friend sleeping inside. She made reference to two other
recent rapes and attempted rapes that have taken place in that
neighborhood.
Search and Rescue halted the search late Monday afternoon. They plan to
reconvene early Tuesday morning.

I know these comments are taken out of context, just small sound bites,
but some of it is bothering me. Hopefully, I'm just being cynical.
The owner, renter, whatever she is, says she didn't lock the doors and
she knows there is a rapist in the neighborhood. Is she bullet proof
still at that age,or just dumb? I can't remember at what age I stopped
believing bad things could happen to me.
The aunt asks why the dog didn't bark.
The boyfriend- is he originally from there or did he follow her there for
the long weekend? That's really a big question mark to me.
The friend also says she got up to check on her, now I check my kids A
LOT...when I have adults staying here for whatever reasons I never check
them. They are adults.
Were these girls really drunk or drugged out that she was worried about
her? Headline news said that the pillow had blood, saliva and mucous on
it...I really really hope that girl didn't drink herself to death and the
friends are trying to hide it.
It actually sounds like they have a fair number of leads to follow on with
the boyfriend being terminated, this Ian guy who is "harmless" (isn't that
what they always say about the surprise serial killer next door?), and bfs
of Brianna and the other girls in that house.
Is it a fact the dog didn't bark, or is it just that nobody noticed it
bark? And, it known to bark to begin with? Considering the activity in
this place the dog could have grown used to strangers coming and going.
I am not surprised the place wasn't locked if it was party-central. I
doubt friends would try to hide it if she died from over indulging... no
good reason to do that IMO. I think if they noticed her not breathing
they'd freak and call 911 after maybe hiding any illegal substances (if
that was even going on).
I bet this will be solved rather quickly as the various player's alibis
flesh out, with a known person being the culprit. However I can see a
scenario involving a stranger, where she went outside for a smoke or
something, being inebriated, maybe talked it up with someone who took the
opportunity to abduct her.
But then the blood and other bodily fluids wouldn't have been inside the
house. I'm guessing she was taken from inside. Since she wasn't even a
hundred pounds, should have been fairly easy to accomplish. Especially if
as someone pointed out, all those fluids could come from one good punch to
her face.
