Well, the constitution forbids "cruel and unusual punishment." I do
believe the men who wrote that were well aware of cruel and unusual
crimes. (shrug)

The case is Baze v. Rees.
Death by firing squad is the most humane, but we have come to consider
it brutal. Lethal injection seeks to clean things up, but we'd be better
off without it and its potential for severe pain. If we're gonna kill

Yes. The guillotine is also very quick and painful. That anbd the
firing squad aren't done more for the audience than the perp.
The use of the "muscle relaxant" (AKA paralyzing agent) puzzles me and
I think that should be outlawed.
With the paralyzing agent, a patient can be in serious pain and look
totally relaxed. It's use opens up the door for abuse.
I think they should go the ancient Greek route - "Here's the hemlock.
Drink it at your leisure. If you are still alive in the morning, you
will be killed.
