Good lord. Next we will hear that Drew Peterson was standing on
a corner wearing a reader board that said "HELP ME DISPOSE OF MY
DEAD WIFE."

Why in the world would he want to get unknown individuals
involved in transporting something that fit in the back of his
SUV?

Charlie
Maybe after getting away with the first one he felt bullet proof.
He sure did make some really stupid moves toward the end there.
Did he make stupid moves, or has the press gotten bad information?
Good point, I've seen a lot of this lately.
Peterson only needs to have done one thing right: disposing of the
body in such a way that it is never found. If he did, he'll get
by with murder.
Maybe not the case anymore. There was one not terribly long ago
that convicted with out a body. Also, I've read a few true crime
books where they couldn't find enough evidence, and so the families
sued civilly. After they won their suits, the prosecutors were able
to use things in the court record as evidence, and THEN they had
enough to go to trial criminally.

It's pretty obvious to anyone who wasn't born yesterday that
Peterson killed his wife. But that is an intuitive conclusion based
on similar cases and what people have said about Peterson's
personality type. I don't see that the authorities have one bit of
solid evidence to present to a jury, civil or criminal.

I agree. Unless all these pieces come together better, or if they
find the body with some associated evidence, this case might end up
without a conviction. I think this Morphey dude could easily be used
to muddy the waters a lot. I can see this play out like *he* killed
Stacy because he lusted after her but was snubbed, Drew helped *him*
dispose of the body out of being such a loyal guy. Idk - maybe not
that far, but we'll see.

What's been revealed against Drew Peterson is already much stronger
than what had been revealed against Scott Peterson at the same point
in the case. We have witnesses, cellphone records, missing items,
other wives......and it's good, strong circumstantial evidence that
will come together at the right time. There's really no rush. LE
knows who their perp is, his cop buddies had better start talking or
else face losing their own $6,000 a month retirements........and the
body would just be icing on the cake.

Like with Scott Peterson, once the body emerges, there will be an
arrest. But if Laci's remains had never floated free, Scott would
still be in prison.

Why do you think so? They didn't arrest him until after they had the
body.

Charlie

The question should be me asking you: "Why not?" I gave my reasons.
You tell me where I'm wrong.

The problem I see is that authorities will be unable to present a
narrative of what took place. They don't know how Peterson killed his
wife, when exactly he did it, or what he did with the body. Without
answers to any of those questions, how will they convince a jury?

The one witness that might be very useful is the step brother. But just
what is his story, anyway? First we were told he helped to move a blue
barrel. And we had two corroborating witnesses -- a neighbor who saw the
barrel being loaded into the SUV, and Stacy's sister, who had seen a blue
plastic barrel in the garage previously and had asked about it, to which
Stacy replied that it contained chlorine for the swimming pool.

OK, that sort of adds up. Peterson killed his wife, put the body in the
barrel and had his step brother help him carry it downstairs and load it
into the SUV. You'd think a cop would know better than to do things that
way, but if witnesses say that's what happened...

But wait! Hold the phone. Now the story has changed quite
substantially. It's no longer a barrel we're looking for, but a
rectangular storage container of the type that is sold at Wal Mart or
Target. And what about the neighbor who saw the object being loaded into
the SUV? We're not hearing about him any more, maybe because the current
story is that this all happened in the evening, after dark.

I'm very skeptical that the press is putting out accurate information, or
that the authorities have a credible witness in this step brother. Until
that is cleared up, or new evidence surfaces, I don't think the DA can
get an indictment, much less convince a trial jury.
