The father brought that baby there, the father left the baby alone on a

LEAVE A FOUR MONTH OLD BABY ALONE, SLEEPING ON A COUCH, AND GO INTO ANOTHER
ROOM, LET ALONE CLOSE THE DOOR AND *GO TO SLEEP*, OR HAVE SEX, OR WHATEVER
IT WAS THEY WERE DOING IN THAT OTHER ROOM. A PARENT doesn't do that, no
with a four month old baby.

You don't leave anything small that could sound like prey with a dog.

Who's "you"?

I love these sweeping generalizations about things that, supposedly,
"you just don't do", because "everybody knows" that "you just don't
do that".

Could it POSSIBLY be more obvious that "everybody" does NOT
know, or agree with, your statement?

Per dictionary.com, I used "you" in the following way: 'Used to refer to an indefinitely specified person; one: You can't win them all.'

Unless there was not crib, playpen, or other baby-specific sleeping area with high edges to prevent falling or crawling out, and other things like dogs from getting in, I would expect it to be obvious to anyone who looked at the helpless infant that it needed to be put in such a place before leaving it unattended for any length of time.

If there was no crib of playpen for some reason, I'd think that a safe sleeping area should be fashioned out things that are available - box, pillows, blankets... Idk, never had to do that myself, but is what I would try if faces with the situation.

Have you ever seen a four month old child? They are very clearly helpless.
