Stepdad David Spears was the last to see Rowan, but authorities say his
story about his whereabouts the night of Rowan's disappearance have not
been consistent.

This includes where he was for more than 5 hours with his mom's Suburban
early Saturday morning, but David Spears' mom says her son was not
involved in Rowan's disappearance.

"If I knew he had done this, I would have turned him in, but he didn't.
His only mistake was he left her alone for a little while," Mona Spears
said. "He'd cut out his heart before he let anything happen to Rowan."

Rowan's mom says her husband's story just doesn't add up.

"I don't want him here, he initially lied, I don't trust, the trust was
broken," Colleen Spears said. "I don't think he did anything, but I don't
know. I don't know how long he was gone, if someone came in here, that
raises the question, did he do something."



I'm glad she is taking that stance too. So back to him taking the car,
what did his mom think he was doing with the car for that long and where
did he go? I mean if one of my kids called me at 1 am and asked to borrow
my car for that many hours and I went over there and sat (which I wouldn't
have unless an emergency), I'd sure be asking some questions when she
showed up missing. Also, one of the earlier articles said something about
the sheet missing off the bed. But I haven't read anything since or heard
a mention. Maybe I'm missing something.

From what I've gathered -I hate that my local news isn't really covering
it-from the small news channels and sites is that:

His mother(grandma) lent him her Suburban for 5 1/2 hours from 1:30-7:00 am.
He was not forthcoming with what he did during that time to the police,or
apparently anyone else. Drugs,affair,disposing of bodies?Dunno.

His mother(grandma)says she doesn't know what he was doing but she knows it
wasn't that.

Colleen Spears(Rowan's mom)has said there is a pink sheet from her bedroom,a
lime green shirt,and a pair of jeans that are missing. She is unaware of
what shoes,if any, are missing. She sits in her front yard with a teddybear
in an old kitchen chair watching the hills for any sign of her daughter. She
knows things don't look good,but still hopes.

I know they've impounded at least one vehicle,and they have taken "bags" of
stuff out of the house either as evidence or to search these things for
trace evidence?

Step dad is staying at his mom's,and has been told he cannot help with the
official search. He can search on his own if he wants. I'm guessing he's
pretty much a pariah at this point, guilty or not.
