Arrrrrrgggh. I just bought a notebook computer with Vista last
month, and haven't really used it yet. Hurry up and learn how,
so I can ask YOU when I have problems!
Kris
I got on one of the tech newsgroups and a lot of others seem to
have the exact same problem. The most often suggested cure was to
get rid of McAfee or Norton AV and put a diffeent one on (AVG?).
My computer came with McAfee loaded with three months of "free"
(yea right) service so I'm not out anything if pick a different
AV. Gonna head over to Walmart and see if I can find a good AV
that's Windows Mail compatible.

Please don't pay money for stuff like AV software. Use AVG Free. It's
the best available, it's free (user donations), and it's constantly
maintained with new virus updates. Head over to alt.2600 or
alt.hackers.malicious and ask them. Those folks spit on commercial
utility programs.
Too bad about having Vista; it's gonna cause you a lot of heartburn.
You might want to contact your computer vendor and request that they
replace Vista with XP Home Professional. You'll be a much happier
camper.
(with his monitors being way up in the air). I really like XP and
hate to switch between OS (desktop here, and notebook in
the trailer).
Kris
probs with my email and ng's, it's very much like XP.
I do remember when XP first came out there was a lot of screaming too.
Chocolic <things are sure way different than DOS not all that long ago
aren't they?>
Yup....and I'm still using a DOS-based program for my business.
It even works under Vista (I loaded it at CostCo just to check. ha)
Remember when the 'net was arpanet, and it looked like:
c>\ %10 email
c>\ %20 login
c>\ %30 kbaker
etc, etc, etc
What, you didn't have to send modem commands?? (and 4800 baud was
*fast*)
Kind regards,
Nancy
