Read my lips: lots of repressed Christian pervs out
there among respectable society. Attorney who
destroyed the evidence was charged with a crime I've
never heard of: "misprision of a felony".
I too had never heard of that before. How does it work? For instance, if I
get e-mail messages showing naked women who *might* be under 18, must I call
the police or can I delete it? If I get messages that appear to be
fraudulent must I notify the police? If I buy property and find some
kiddy-porn in a closet must I call the authorities or can I simply destroy
it?
It seems that I must report such occurrences to the authorities. Doing
nothing can get me charged and destroying the evidence would be "misprision
of a felony."

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - A lawyer admitted Thursday that he destroyed a
computer containing child pornography that was evidence in an
investigation at a prominent church.
The lawyer, Philip Russell, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to
one count of misprision of a felony, which means he had knowledge of a
felony but didn't report it. He faces up to 14 months in prison when
he is sentenced in December.
Russell, a former lawyer for the Christ Church in Greenwich, was
accused of obstructing an FBI investigation that led to the January
conviction of the church's music director, Robert Tate, for possessing
child pornography.
Former President George H.W. Bush attended the church while growing up
and funeral services for his parents were held there.
