Case discussed on national TV
Fox News' Greta Van Susteren interviews pathologist, reporter about
Centerville sisters' deaths
PALLADIUM-ITEM

The deaths of two sisters from Centerville grabbed seven minutes of
national
airtime on Fox News late Monday night.

Interviews with a local radio news reporter and a forensic pathologist
were
part of the segment that aired as part of the "On the Record with Greta
Van
Susteren" show about the deaths of Erin and Kelly Stanley.

"It's been bizarre from the get-go," said Bob Phillips, news director
of
radio station WKBV 1490 in Richmond, in describing the deaths. The
Palladium-Item declined for a representative to be interviewed for the
show.

Erin Stanley, 19, whose death is being investigated as a homicide, was
found
barely breathing on Sept. 1 before dying at Reid Hospital, police said.
Kelly Stanley, 18, was found dead in the same home on Sept. 7, but
authorities have yet to reveal the nature of her death.

The hourlong show, which begins at 10 p.m., waited until about 10:30 to
air
the segment. The story shared airtime with developments in the O.J.
Simpson
robbery case and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to
Columbia
University in New York City.

Dr. Michael Baden, a New York forensic pathologist who appeared on the
show
as an expert, gave insight into the police investigation. He even
offered
a
guess as to who could have killed the sisters and how they might have
died.
The Palladium-Item doesn't report the names of people who have not yet
been
named by authorities as suspects in the investigation.

The segment opened with the 911 call made by Lonny Stanley, the
sisters'
mother, after Erin Stanley was found barely breathing.

"Centerville, Indiana, is in shock tonight," Van Susteren said before
the
recording started to play.

Phillips told Van Susteren the media and the community weren't notified
of
Erin Stanley's death until Kelly Stanley died.

"Nobody knew about it," Phillips said.

Phillips went on to say in the program that Erin Stanley's body was
cremated
shortly after Kelly Stanley's death. In addition, he said, a 911 call
was
made after Kelly Stanley's death, but it didn't record properly.

"Ugh," Van Susteren said in frustration at the segment's close.

So Erin was actually alive, but near death, when found? With the bf info,
then I wonder if it wasn't some sort of sex thing gone wrong either on
purpose or accidently. You know, him suffocating her til the last minute,
then releasing, like we've talked about before here. Apparently some
partners both like that sort of thing. Now, if he killed her, I'd tend to
think he did it on purpose, myself. It that's what happened, there'd be
marks on her though, unless there was some sort of soft fabric thing
employed. They don't sound that refined to me. Why wouldn't it be obvious
during autopsy? And what's the deal with cremation so quick, and after
the
death of the sister? And if Erin's bf did it - did he do it to her sister
too? Is he a true psycho? Or is the sister's death just an awful
coincidence?

The local news guy said the sister was assisting LE in the investigation
of
the first sisters death. She was providing passwords and such to
computer/s
they had and cell phone text messages or something. It sounded like the
sister was really helping the cops. The impression that was left was that
who ever killed the sister, (boy friend), also off-ed the second sister to
silence her.

The only thing about that is - and this shows my own bias - you have to
believe the local news guy - and I find that hard to do. Because what they
like is to stir up crap to get an audience and thus sponsors. News outlets
all over the globe are notorious for this. And they don't even need a source
particularly. I mean, seems to me that bf is the best POI so far, but I bet
the local news guy doesn't know any more than I do down here! Do you?
