Look at their smiling, obese faces in the article. The husband is a
former postal worker (!). A neighbor was having his pastor pray for hem
(!). "Joni Park seemed to feel that Mission Viejo was beneath her and
wanted to move to Newport Beach." (!)
So where did all the money come from? Drugs? Gun-running? Blackmail?
Embezzlement? Fraud?
in Mission Viejo, nice five-bedroom house and seemingly normal life.
Apparently something was wrong under the surface. Could it be that with
the impending real estate crunch some problems appeared with their business?

This one sounds like an upcoming episode of Law and Order, or maybe a
movie.! It would have made a great episode of Dragnet, actually.
Stay tuned for the explanation...

This whole incident is full of weirdness.
The initial report in OC Register said Joni Park was running
around the resort naked brandishing the gun, which resulted in
other resort residents calling the police.
If that is true, she didn't even need to brandish the gun.
Running around naked would have been more then enough to bring
police to the premises.
Couple of days later it changed to "Kevin Park calling the police
about domestic dispute". It might have been both. The official
version now is "suicide by cop". I wonder though, if that version
is correct, why would they bring their kids and members of extended
family to the party? One of the articles also mentioned, that
although the gun the couple had was loaded, no shots were fired from
that gun. If police had the couple isolated in their bungalow, did
they really need to start shooting so soon? Would evacuating other
guests and trying to negotiate with the Parks have helped to bring
the incident to peaceful conclusion? I'm far from blaming the
police though.
