Doctor Says Preacher's Wife Claims Abuse

SELMER, Tenn. - A preacher's wife accused of murdering her husband told a
psychologist that he often threatened her with a shotgun and forced her to
have sex, the psychologist testified Tuesday.
So says the killer. Any independant corroboration?
Any reason for the killer to lie?
Dr. Lynne Zager said MaryWinkleralso told her that, on the day of the
fatal shooting, her husband tried to stop their 1-year-old daughter from
crying by placing his hands over the baby's nose and mouth.
Again, so says the woman who killed him.
Anybody else EVER see him do such a thing?
Can you think of any reason for this witness to be lying?
Prosecution witnesses have described MatthewWinkler, a 31-year-old preacher
at the Fourth Street Church of Christ in this west Tennessee town, as a good
father and husband.
But the defense says he terrorized his family and criticized his wife's
every move.
Huh. Funny difference between those two paragraphs.
Prosecution **WITNESSES** testify that the victim was a
good father and husband.
But the defense **SAYS** that he terrorized his family.
Does the defense present any witnesses to the fact that
he terrorized his family?
Other than the defendant, that is?
The psychologist said MaryWinklersuffered from mild depression and
post-traumatic stress disorder, which started at age 13 when her sister died
and got worse because her husband abused her.
You mean -- because she **SAYS** her husband abused her?
Her LATE husband -- the one she murdered?
The one who isn't around to tell his side of the story?
She could not have formed the
intent to commit a crime because of her compromised mental condition, Zager said.
I would like an independant opinion as to Zager's mental
condition and competence. She seems to have accepted
the killer's word as to everything the killer says.
MaryWinkler, 33, could be sentenced to up to 60 years in prison if
convicted of first-degree murder.
.... but as we know, was actually sentenced to less than six years
(the average for women who kill their husbands), for quote
"voluntary manslaughter".
The defense has said MaryWinklerintended to hold her husband at gunpoint
only to force him to talk about the incident involving their 1-year-old
daughter Breanna. The defense said the shooting was accidental.
And the jury apparently bought that.
