Dad Who Dumped Baby In Quarry Gets Early Release

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio -- A Lorain County man convicted of dumping his newborn
son's body into a quarry is getting out of prison early.

Thomas Truelson was granted early release on Monday by a Lorain County
judge. He is expected to be released from the Lorain County Jail sometime
Monday afternoon.

Truelson had initially asked for early release from his two-year sentence
last fall, but a judge denied his request.

Prosecutors said Truelson and the baby's mother, Jessica Coleman, killed
their son and dumped his body in a Lorain Quarry in 1999. At the time,
Coleman was 15 years old. Truelson was 18.

A judge sentenced Truelson to two years in prison last February. Coleman is
currently serving a six-year sentence. She will not be eligible for parole
until she has served five years of her sentence.

Neighbors believe the pair should have done equal time.

"I think it sends the wrong message to kids that the men should be held
equally responsible," Trish Mizen, a neighbor.

Another neighbor, Dawn Esson, agreed.

"I think he played a role in it," Esson said. "I believe he should be
punished just as well as Jessica. I mean if she's getting six years he
should have six years."
