LUFKIN, Texas -- A 32-year-old woman found guilty of beating, starving and
sexually abusing her five children was sentenced Thursday to three 75-year
terms in prison.

Bennedetha Buckjune received one of the terms for injury to a child and the
other two for aggravated sexual assault. Buckjune also was sentenced to 10
20-year terms for sexual and aggravated assault counts. She will serve the
13 sentences concurrently.

State District Judge David Wilson told Buckjune it was "the worst case of
child abuse" he's seen in 30 years, The Lufkin Daily News reported in its
Friday editions.

At her August trial, Buckjune's eldest stepdaughter testified that her
stepmother hit her on the head with a frying pan for eating a stuffed
sandwich without permission, slammed her head through a wall and tried to
drown her in a bathtub.

"Every time I try to relate that story, I almost start crying," the judge
said.

One of Buckjune's daughters testified Thursday that her mother forced her to
perform sexual acts with the family's dogs. Two boys who lived near the
family said Buckjune forced two of her daughters to perform sexual acts with
them.

Buckjune will be eligible for parole in 30 years.
