About 200 people helped search for the boys Thursday, Stevens
said.
Most
hiked or used horses to scour the hilly, rocky terrain near the
river.
Others used canoes and flatbed boats.

"It's been a continuous 24-hour operation," Stokes County EMS
training
officer Brian Booe said.

I hope somebody checks the trunks of cars they could have had
access
to.

Ooo, good thinking. Tho since several diff dogs tracked them to the
river,
I
feel doubtful they're anywhere but in the water. jc

I'm sure you're right. After what happened in Salt Lake to those five
girls
and then those three boys a year or so ago I can't imaging any LE
officer
not checking trunks of cars IMMEDIATELY if you know what I mean.

Just heard on the late news, still no sign of those little boys.

Oh, so so sad, just doesn't sound good at all.

As for kids in cars, I had a friend who, when she was a young teenaged
mother (long before I met her), had a child die inside a hot car (not the
trunk) while everyone searched. And her sister's child was with her child.
Each was 2 years old, one a boy and one a girl, and both died, tho one
lived
a few more hours after discovery. The neighbor's car was unlocked and they
just climbed in. This would have been 40-45 years ago now, maybe nearer
50.
My friend died of breast cancer 8 or 9 years ago, leaving behind two grown
sons and grandchildren. I knew her for years before she told me. She
didn't
tell many people. I sure do hope LE and other searchers would search
vehicles first thing. But I think the river got these two little boys. jc

How sad for your friend. Something so tragic, she carried it with her for
the rest of her life. I'm sure she was *punished* far more than any sort of
jail term could give.

As for those little boys, I've been thinking about a friend of mine here.
We've had a lot on the news this past week about Hurricane Fran. It's the
tenth anniversary of that hurricane, went right over top of us 10 years ago,
still with hurricane force winds and rains. My friend lost her son to
drowning in that one. He was a teen, but her son all the same. And his
body was missing for something like 7 or 10 days. She nearly went crazy for
that time period until his body was found. It was horrible. I remember
laying in bed at night, listening to a storm, and knowing she was just going
mad thinking about her boy being 'out there'. I tell you, it put all the
damage, lack of power, lack of ice, lack of AC, and mess to try and clean
up, etc., into perspective. I mean, nothing, NOTHING that any of the rest
of us were going through at the time came anywhere near to what she was
going through.
