NY Post is reporting that Karr had been under investigation by Thai
police and the very thought of Thai prison would be a motive to false
confession.

If the NYPost actually said this--and I have no idea if they did, I have
only your say-so to go on, as you failed to provide a source--than they are
bigger idiots than I always thought they were. John Karr was not facing a
Thai prison. There have been no reports of any crimes he committed there.
The Thai authorities arrested him only in cooperation with US authorities,
and their only other plan for him was deportation.

I can't believe people keep talking about the Thai prison business. It shows
an unusual amount of denseness.

Dunleavy also expressed concern that the DA in Boulder has been "had",
but it's the DA's job not to become "had".
Fire her.

What BS. The DA's office has every right to bring any potential suspect they
want in for questioning, and are legally empowered to use an arrest warrant
to accomplish that if that's the only way to do it. The entity most at fault
here IMO for screwing up is the media. They have done nothing but perpetuate
false, unconfirmed stories by the truckload since Wed. and have demonstrated
a stunning level of cluelessness by offering comments like the Thai prison
"explanation" and asking questions like "Does this arrest take the cloud of
suspicion off the parents now, once and for all?"

I've heard this latter question asked several times now by cable news TV
hosts and I shake my head each time in disbelief. How can an arrest w/
absolutely no details of what the DA's office has on this POI prove or
disprove *anything* at this stage? Not only is it a disgracefully stupid
question to ask, but if anyone actually thinks it does, they must have the
IQ of a turnip.
