Andrea Yates was in state of psychosis when she murdered her children,
she wasn't catatonic. I believe Dr. Dietz stated on the record that
Andrea Yates was psychotic when she murdered her children.

Nope. Just the opposite: Dietz stated she was not grossly psychotic
at the time of the murders, and only became so later while in jail.
This agrees with Dr Saeeda (sp?), who saw her two days before the
killings and stated she wasn't psychotic.



Both psychosis and being catatonic are symptoms of paranoid
schizophrenia. I am just surprise that the county jail would have her
interact with other inmates , given her mental condition and the
notoriety of the case.

Hah, you have a much higher opinion of how most county jails are run
than i do.



The only reason I would tend to think she was conscious of her
actions, if she expressed alot of rage and bitterness toward her
husband, and killed her children to spite her husband, while using the
servant of Satan defense as an cover up. However it doesn't appear to
be the case...


I think Andrea was depressed, too much of a wussy to just walk out on
her husband, and at the same time quite self-centered (a feature of
most family annihilators). She couldn't stand the idea of the children
identifying with her Rusty's mother as a maternal figure, she figured
she couldn't raise them right, so if she was a bad mother, eliminate
the mother role: by eliminating the kids.

Too selfish to give 'em up, too selfish to keep raising them, so she
erased their existance. In my view, completely criminal behavior.
