Re: OT: Recommended Reading

It seems there is a dearth of interesting t-c in the past few days, so
to pass the time I thought I'd ask what everyone is reading (or what
they'd recommend).

For instance, I am just finishing Pattern Recognition by Willaim Gibson,
and am loving it. I think it might appeal to a.t-c'ers.

Before that I tried a Snyder recommendation of several books in the
Discworld series. Really fun and funny. There are 20+ books in the
series, more than enough to keep one going.

Next, after Pattern Recognition I plan to read the Incredible Mrs.
Chadwick, because she had an affair with, and ripped off, several men
including my great great grandfather Beckwith. If not for her, I am told
I'd be in a wealthy family. Instead, I have a creepy souvenir of the
wedding band on the hand that shot his own head when he commit suicide
because of the devastation from her passing thru his life (my great
grandfather broke into wherever his body was kept and stole this ring
off his hand that I now have - how creepy is that?).

Anyway, it is getting into summer reading season and I am looking for
more recommendations. What is everyone else reading, or what do they
recommend?

Well, I don't exactly recommend my reading. I've been spending my free
time reading fake books. I suspect there's one or two people out there
who don't know what a fake book is; I will inform both of you. A fake
book contains songs with melody lines (the treble clef) and chords.
It's for people who want to just get the basic structure of a song
and then fake their way through it with some C instrument, usually
a piano or guitar. I'm not good enough to use real *** music
with the grand staff.

Kind regards,
Nancy
