Police: Schilt murdered wife, tried to kill daughter
By Kirk Mitchell
Denver Post Staff Writer
Denver police are filing an extradition warrant against a man held in
an Arkansas jail for the murder of his wife. They will search for the
woman's body in a Denver area dump.
Frank Schilt, 53, is currently being held in the Yell County Jail in
Danville, Ark. on unrelated charges. He's now facing first degree
murder charges, after the disappearance of his wife, Teresa Schilt,
51.
Schilt is also under investigation for attempted murder related to an
unexplained attempt to kill his 15-year-old daughter Melody Schilt,
said David Fisher, division chief for investigation for Denver police.
Fisher said investigative leads by Denver detectives in Arkansas led
them to believe Frank Schilt killed his wife at their home at 9550 W.
Chenango Ave. on Feb. 25.
Several days later, Frank Schilt allegedly put his wife's body in a
dumpster, he said.
Finding the body could take several weeks because police must first
determine which dumpster the body was in and which dump it was taken
to, Fisher said.
Teresa Schilt has been missing for a month. Fisher did not explain the
circumstances behind the attempted murder charge involving Melody
Schilt.
