Stivers tried to get rescuers attention

Just saw a news broadcast on this story. A reporter hiked up to the site
where the RV was stuck. The snow was up to his belly. Very difficult
getting far. They showed all the things the family did to try to get
the attention of resuers. They put out squares of aluminum foil as
reflectors, long strings of red string or plastic leading down to the
main road, they burned some things, including perhaps a small building
at the airstrip. The family has not confirmed they are the ones who
burned it, but investigators think yes. I am thinking the family
doesn't want to admit if for liability reasons, and I can't say that I
blame them.

Anyway, just wanted people to know that they were not just sitting
around doing nothing. They were trying to save themselves and doing some
of the things suggested here.
