Take this as sincere and affectionate advice from a close cousin (and
one which just threw its government out over a financial scandal): You
guys have seriously got to stop swallowing the bull*** these people
keep handing you. My impression of Americans has always been that
you're take-no-***, demand-your-rights people. I know 9/11 shook you
up real bad, but I can't reconcile the USA I knew growing up with the
passive nation I now see to the south, taking (and in some cases
parroting) whatever ridiculous excuse you're handed by your government
for any outrageous action. In the 1970s conservatives *and* liberals,
the hardhats and the hippies alike, would have been marching in the
streets in outrage at some of the actions of this government (the
wiretaps of US citizens in particular). This "I shot a guy by accident
but didn't make it my responsibility to make it public and you'll
accept that" is just another in a chain of slaps to the electorates'
collective face.
At some point, terrorists or not, you've got to stop letting these
guys run roughshod over you and start making them take responsibility
for their actions or you're going to make us in Canada look like the
Don't Tread On Me country by comparison.
ronnie
Brava!
You know why they lay down and take it? Because they're been convinced that there's a terrorist behind every corner, and that ONLY Bush/Cheney can protect them. Yeah, that's it. Any other candidate would have taken down the border crossings, and let al Qaeda build a bomb factory in Toledo. *** Cheney basically said so in the 2004 election.
Don't forget that only half our country is stupid. Yes, we're embarrassed by them....but we can't afford to build more "special" schools.
Kris
The stupid half is stupid because they believe all the crap the
mainstream news media feeds them. There is an important Senate
hearing going on regarding the government's stupendous failure
for the Katrina victims, but it's being overshadowed by the Cheney
Shotgun story. Sometimes I have to go to foreign sources to find
out what's going on in my own country.
Kind regards,
Nancy
