Then we have to enact something like unassailable living wills for
everyone. There has to be a specific form that is used throughout all
jurisdictions, and I'm not entirely comfortable with this option.
For myself, the word of the next of kin is enough until we legally call
a halt to the practise in order to implement a different, better,
standard. And the decision is better handled privately without the
interference of government regulation.

I disagree. The DP isn't debated near enough to make me comfortable
with it. But these right to die cases go through a ton of public
censure when any question of their validity is noticed by the media.
My feelings on the DP is that no government should have the right to
kill citizens under any conditions, no matter how guilty. Do I think
some people deserve to be eliminated? Oh yeah. But I'm not about to
give my government the power to carry out a hit based on my desires or
anyone else's. Once we give away that power, it can be used on anyone.
