Teen pleads not guilty in disabled woman's rape

DUPAGE COUNTY -- A Schaumburg teenager pleaded not guilty Monday to
raping and impregnating a 23-year-old brain-damaged resident of a
Bloomingdale health facility where he worked.

Reynaldo Brucal Jr., 18, is being held in lieu of $1 million bail in
the DuPage County Jail since his arrest earlier this month after
investigators matched his DNA to that of the baby born to the woman in
July.

The defendant was an employee of Alden Village Health Facility for
Children and Young Adults, where the woman lived when she was
impregnated.

The victim's mother, Cheryl Hale-Crom, is raising the child.

Brucal has no previous criminal history in DuPage or Cook Counties. He
was on disability leave from Alden Village, where he worked as a
nurse's aide from September 2004 until his arrest.
