I was going to watch a show on HBO this afternoon, but HBO was gone from my cable lineup.
I called Cox and asked why. I was told that the FCC is mandating all cable stations to go digital-only by 2006, and that HBO is now only available by digital subscription.
Is this true? I rarely watch TV, so it could be true; but it seems a little far reaching in that there is a substantial consumer impact.
How very interesting if it is. They don't want an analog network spanning entire continents and endowed with all sorts of nifty abilities? For some reason which utterly "eludes" me at the moment, I find that fact to be oh, so very fascinating. I wonder what their official reasoning is? Hm. :-? Gotta' go look this one up... ;-)
I thought Cox was digital cable?
