This article from the Royal Forums website is about the commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Friedrich the Great in Germany.  The article says in part -

"Friedrich the Great was born on January 24th, 1712 as the eldest son of King Friedrich Wilhelm I in Prussia and Sophia Dorothea of Hanover. He succeeded to the Prussian throne in 1740, and became 'King of Prussia' in February 1772 after taking control of the entire historical Prussian state."

Can someone explain the difference between King in Prussia and King of Prussia?

By all accounts, from what I've read on the internet and in this forum, German people have next to no interest in their potential imperial family, and yet the current Prince and Princess of Prussia dined with the President of the republic to celebrate the anniversary, so the government at least recognises their position.  It seems however that Germany is one of the least likely countries to restore their monarchy.

"the current Prince and Princess of Prussia dined with the President
of the republic"

There is no such place as Prussia any more and they are not a Prince
or a Princess. All such titles were abolished. They are allowed to put
the titles into their surnames as if John Doe were to change his last
name to Doe Prince of Neverland.
They are no more Prince and Princess than you or I and the idea of a
restoration of the German Empire is laughable.
