From the archives it's obvious that his queen
Isabella/Elisabeth, Archduchess of Austria, corresponded with her
siblings and relatives in French. Since they also write to Christian
in French (when they presumably, as Habsburgs, also knew German) it
seems that Christian at least had passive knowledge of French.

As you might know Christian was forced into exile and went to live in
the Low Countries. Here is a funny letter from his wife's aunt, the
Regentess Margaret of the Low Countries, scolding the exiled monarch
from having hunted without permission in the forest of the Marquis of
Aerschot:http://www.dokpro.uio.no/perl/middelalder/diplom_vise_tekst.prl?b=101...

More letters from the Habsburgs to Elisabeth and Christian:http://www.dokpro.uio.no/perl/middelalder/diplom_soek.prl?start=S%F8k...

The problem is that the Norwegian online archive Diplomatarium
Norvegicum only has the letters sent TO Christian II. I would be
interested to see the letters HE sent to his in-laws in the Low
Countries. Does anybody know of any online database of historical
manuscripts from the Low Countries?

Skrow corrigated to know
