How about the House of Wessex (eventually Edinburgh?):
James, Viscount Severn, son of the Earl of Wessex
There is no House of Wessex. The Queen decided that her male-line
descendants who are not HRH would bear the surname Windsor (or
Mountbatten-Windsor: I've never been able to parse the LP ).

I think the way it was intended to work is that her male line
descendants who would have the title of Prince or Princess and the
style of Royal Highness would be Windsors. However, those descendants
who are not - such as the grandchildren of Princes Edward and Andrew
would be Mountbatten-Windsors.- Hide quoted text -
No. The notification says nothing whatever about granchildren. It
says:
"I and my children will continue to be styled and known as the House
and Family of Windsor, my descendants, other than descendants enjoying
the style, title or attributes of Royal Highness and the titular
dignity of Prince or Princess, and female descendants who marry and
their descendants, shall bear the name Mountbatten-Windsor."- Hide quoted text -

Actually, I said "the grandchildren of Princes Edward and Andrew".
They would be her great-grandchildren. As great-grandchildren of a
monarch, they would not be entitled to royal titles or styles. Thus,
according to the LP, they would use the name "Mountbatten-Windsor".- Hide quoted text -
The point I was making is that according to the notification the names
do not depend on the level of relationship (nor on the LPs of 1917).
Whoever's grandchildren you meant.
The notification stands on its own. The names depend on whether or not
the descendants are princes or princesses and Royal Highness. Those
titles can be given or taken away at the will of the sovereign.
Of course one would also find it hard to imagine what circumstances
would cause Prince Andrew's grandchildren to be "Mountbatten-Windsor",
given that both his children are daughters.- Hide quoted text -

Sorry, I made the mistake of assuming I was dealing with an
intelligent person. I won't do it again as far as you're concerned.
Does anyone doubt that if and when Charles becomes King, he will
officially change the name of the dynasty to The House of Mountbatten-
Windsor?
