only purpose in posting here is to demonstrate your illiteracy in a

As I said, I am perfectly aware of the Archduke's purported
renunciation on 31 May 1961, and of the fact that this was widely
treated as a legal move that did not affect his being seen as Head of
the House. And I am aware of the handover of the headship and
sovereignty of the Order of the Golden Fleece on 30 November 2000; I
have read Brook-Shepherd's excellent biography of the Archduke and I
have corresponded with HI&RH's secretary, so I am not entirely
ignorant of the situation.

However, the Archduke's official website states that he "handed over
his functions as Head of the House to his son on 1 January 2007". It
is not clear to me what this means - ie is it an abdication or a
regency?

I have not seen this fact commented on elsewhere; it certainly has not
made the papers in England, and I have not encountered any scholarly
works published since 1 January that might shed light on what it
actually means. Additionally, I thought it might be of interest to
members of this list.

If you can shed some light yourself, kindly do so; if you can't, shut
up and stop embarrassing yourself.
