Babes and other non-Protestants under Act of Settlement
Is a babe a Protestant for Act of Settlement?
A babe is technically not a Christian - therefore not a Protestant,
either.
A person who has at any time in his or her life either been a Papist
or married a Papist is disqualified for life, even if he or she
subsequently converts to Church of England or remains a faithful
member thereof.
A person who at some time in his or her life becomes a Protestant of
some description and is a Protestant when a demise of Crown occurs,
even if such a person has previously been an Eastern Orthodox, Jew,
Muslim, Hindu, heathen or atheist, is eligible to the throne.
Can a person who, at the instant of the Demise of Crown, holds a
religion other than Protestant or Popish, succeed to throne?
Can a person who, at the time of demise of crown holds no religion at
all, succeed to the throne? Such as an adult who has never been
baptized and never has joined any non-Christian religion?
Then what about an unbaptized babe?
