As far as imperiled Marquessates go,
what prospect is there of an heir to Abergavenny?
To the Marquessate-- highly unlikely. The current peer is now 51 and
has been married for 21 years so it is doubtful there will be more
children in the future. Sadly, their only son passed away when he was
less than 3 months old in 1990 (according to Burke's). His older
brother (b. 1945) died in 1993, childless. There are no other males in
remainder at all.
As for the Earldom, there are slightly better prospects here. Although
the heir presumptive is already 65, he does have a 33 year old son but
he is not married--- at least not in Debrett's 2003.
