My practice is to acknowledge my mistakes as soon as they are pointed out, and
to offer original sources where possible. I acknowledged the mistake within 24
hours of it being pointed out, and I have provided anyone who wishes the
opportunity to see a photograph of the original document to which you refer.
I suppose I must have missed the "acknowledgement" and references
to "original sources" for the mistakes listed below. Though many of
the sections seem to have now disappeared from your website, which I
suppose is your way of "acknowledging your errors".
You are very much confused. This is not "my" FAQ, as you would have noticed if
you had read it to the end.
I was using the term in the general sense.
Ah yes, the general sense of "my" being "someone else's"...
At any rate, if you want me to acknowledge that there were (and surely still
are) mistakes in the FAQ, or on my website, that you and others have pointed
out, I have no problem doing so. That's the difference between you and me.
Well, better late than never I suppose. But just to establish the point
of difference you claim, perhaps you could give us a clue as to when
you acknowledged these particular errors.
I do now. The FAQ contained errors, you pointed them out on March 2, I corrected
them by April 1. Happy?
Not quite the same as "My practice is to acknowledge my mistakes as
soon as they are pointed out" is it, unless of course "as soon as
pointed out"="three months later" and
"acknowledge"="quietly change but say nothing about it". Ah,
the pleasures of working out Velde's ideas on "truthfulness".
Something of which I think I am aware, and it seems so are you. HardlyAs many people here will aver, I respond to direct emails concerning errors in
the FAQ rather quickly. I also respond to follow-ups when I can, but of course
I take less notice of follow-ups from people I've killfiled.
Yes, we have noticed your kill file in these posts recently. Very
evident indeed!
Your post of March 2 was under your old address:

Your new, humble address came into use late April.
surprising because my first few posts with the new address included my
name in the sign-off. But your point is? That you cannot read or that
you can?
It appears
that you threaten to sue anyone who visits it, so perhaps I should either delete
any mention of it entirely, or else warn of your threats. On the other hand,
the threat is totally preposterous, and many people say that your site is
useful. So far I haven't removed any mention of it. Your wishes on the matter
are of course perfectly irrelevant.
Alas, it is you who are a little confused, yet again. I haven't
threatened to sue anyone. Some silly fellow promised to send me a
signed confession claiming that he had downloaded material without my
permission and challenged ME to sue HIM. Needless to say, said
confession has staill not arrived.
Fair enough, I was incorrect. You did not make any threats, you merely argued
that visiting your website without prior permission was a violation of
copyright law. Just as preposterous, but hardly worth any mention.
Nope, still wrong. I threatened nobody for *visiting* my website
either. I simply asked somebody if he had asked permission to download
what he had obviously downloaded.
By the way, have you requested permission to download any materials from my
website? I don't recall receiving anything of the kind. Yet another instance
of your generously exempting yourself from what you demand of others?
Perhaps you ought to prove that I have downloaded anything from your
website in the first place. If so on which date and at what time?
You said "many of the sections seem to have now disappeared from your website".
I should have thought that, as usual, you were talking about something you
had not seen as if you had. I could check my log files, but I couldn't care less.
You cannot substantiate anything, as per usual.
