daughter Elizabeth (who married the Gordon Brown) lived in Paris ca.
1929/30. I wonder if she might have been married there. Also, the
family originated in Mecklenburg. It says:
"The Russian General Lieutenant Busso Friederici was recorded/accepted
in the Estlandisch Matricul on 29 January 1756
Friderici einzutragen" - Russ. Adel.
I suppose from this his nobility in Estonia is of Russian origin; it
seems his family in Mecklenburg were also noble, as he had married a
von Brevern (also of Estland nobility) in 1723, and his son Hermann had
married a von Wrangell in 1748, well before his Russian nobility was
recognized.
The source of this family is the Genealogisches Handbuch der
estlaendischen Ritterschaft, Im Auftrage des Verbandes des
estlaendischen Stammadels, bearbeitet von O. M. von Stackelberg,
1929-1930; printed by the Verlag fuer Sippenforschung und Wappenkunde
E. A. Starke, Goerlitz (Schlesien).
I can read/speak German, but my translation skills are not at the best
level, so if anyone needs this in English, I could give it a try...
Give this a try http://www.friederici.de.vu/
There are Friederici's galore, from all parts of nothern Europe and
beyond, including a mention of Kurland. So it looks like the people who
run that website would be a better bet that anyone here.
Happy hunting!
I have no idea if it is the same family, and don't have the volume concerned, but the 1912 volume of the Gothaisches Taschenbuch der Briefadeligen Häuser contains the stammreihe of a Friderici family.
Totally irrelevant, but it may amuse the noble Count Gudenus, the wife of the most famous cowboy of them all, William Frederick Cody (Buffalo Bill), was one Louisa Frederici.
