By the way, have you requested permission to download and copy any
materials from the website? I don't recall receiving anything of the
kind.

Ah.. but you see there is NO permission needed as the mere fact that
there IS a website is permission.

Not at all, any more than a book is permission to copy.

A web site can ONLY be seen by copying and downloading it into a
computer's memory so that it may be displayed in a browser; thus
placing anything on a website automatically gives those visiting it to
copy and download it for viewing - otherwisw why bother.

Surely a flaw in your logic somewhere.

The only way that a website cannot be seen is if the person is blind.
If a website can ONLY be seen by copying and downloading it, how can
one copy and download it in the first place?

I take it that this is all cover for copying and downloading without
permission. Correct?

Not at all- it is a fact that websites are only seen if downloaded and
copied to a computer's memory and then displayed. Entering the URL in
you browser and clicking it the command to download, copy, and display.
That is how it works.

Anyone who places ANYTHING on the web is therefore giving permission
for this to happen when the URL of their website is entered into a
browser in order to be seen.

Please note that I have said nothing about re-distributing what
apppears on the screen- That is a different kettle of fish altogether-
the copyright kettle.

You are being diaingenuous, and you know that perfectly well.

Still, I notice that you haven't answered my question directly. So I
will assume that you are copying and downloading without permission,
yourself.

As I said... I do NOT need permission to download or copy ANYTHING on
the web. That is already approved by the mere fact it is ON the web.

I do NOT however re-distribute anything, it is all for my personal,
individual, private use - thus no copyright infringements.

No, I am afraid you are quite wrong.

We are not talking web browsers here, are we? We are talking about you
actively intervening yourself to copy, download and save something
yourself, without permission.

Of course we are talking browsers - how else do you think websites
operate?

Perhaps you mean making a copy of what the browser downloads and then
sending it to someone.. but in that case it could be argued that you
are making a copy of what is already on your machine and not a copy of
the actual website.

Bottom line is that as long as you do nothing but view websites and
maintain them on your computer for your personal use and do not send to
others there is NO permission needed.
