Are you sure? I thought that the father remained the holder of the
peerage, but that his son had been allowed to take his seat in right of
another's peerage - as sometimes used to happen with husbands of suo
jure peeresses. I'm fairly certain that recipients of writs in
acceleration who die vita patris are not included in the numbering of
peers.
Who was the last person to receive a writ in acceleration before Lord
Cranborne?
