But the real problem with driving is that you have to drive back;
San Diego to Boston is nearly the farthest you can drive in the
contiguous states and you have to do it twice. Six thousand miles
in one go is a bit much to do solo. 700 a day with two people is
doable.

The train is a tantalizing idea. Have to see if the U will spring
for it. Somehow I doubt it.
