There's an important difference: whereas the inquisition was interested
in confessions so as to be able to blackmail more "sinners", I cannot
imagine that any spammer had anything to say that I'd be interested in
hearing.
The same as the previous example: I want to know from whom he bought
my email address, to aid in choosing my next deserving recipient.
