Forgive my ignorance, but why is keeping the patient awake a priority?
I don't recall anything about that being covered in the ancient lifesaving
courses I took so long ago.
Of course they always shout "don't go to sleep or you'll die" in the movies, but
neither do cars always explode in the real world*.
