They ended up destroying a perfectly good (except for one tiny hole)
work boot.
That boot lost its ANSI rating, and ceased to be "good" in any sense
(much less "perfectly" so) the moment it was punctured. There is no
means of repair available that does not offend the Standard, so it
was getting replaced anyway.
