You know, that one doesn't look bad. I bet there's no section on making
your own capillary tubes by melting glass tubes and then pulling them,
but at least it's got a burner and some magnesium.
Maybe you could talk her into a microscope set instead?
I always enjoyed my electronics set - and I think I'd kill for a lego
mindstorm or similar if I were a child these days.
Tandy (Radio Shack) 65-in-1 was mine. Good fun, although I never really
took notice of the bit that tried to explain how each project worked - I
just read the description and then followed the wiring table (repeating
in my head "23 to 47... 23 to 47... 23 to 47..." until I'd found and
connected both ends).
There are a pile of Mindstorms in the corner of my office (for the
robotics students). I keep meaning to borrow one.
