actual proposal that says what the 11 bits are. Plenty of commentary
and attempts to get support into various OSes and other mailing list
traffic and that exciting list of TLDs, yes, but not the actual spec.

It's been a while and after a little searching myself I'm not sure that
the 11 bits were actually pilfered from an IPv4 header. One of the
proposals I saw seemed to be trying to create something like a combined
IPv4/IPv8 header, but without actually using IPv4 options for header
extensions. It's probably most important to remember that Syrzvat was
amazingly kooky (he apparently later started going on about IPv16, which
has a certain problem . . . ). It's quite possible that he never
actually laid out a coherent proposal for IPv8.

When I showed that list to one of my friends back in the day, he
splorfed within a few seconds and exclaimed "dot BLOWN!" And "BLOWN"
isn't the weirdest item in the list. CARCASS?
