The FRA guy who showed me the second ad I listed said he showed it to
a guy at work -- someone who, remember, makes his living in the field

aforementioned close-up. Well, shit, buddy, do you want to get people
to think seriously about being careful around trains, or do you want
to avoid hurting their feelings even the tiniest little bit?

I have seen an ad about drunk driving that I think got pulled as a
campaign because it was too scary.

A foggy country road at night, a man staggering along the deserted
road carrying the clearly injured (and possibly dead) body of a young
woman. The only soundtrack his panicked sobbing breathing. After a
moment a black screen with the words "if you drink and drive you will
carry the consequences for the rest of your life"
